Hello, I’m Elise

I work as a project manager, am a parent, and I’m an expat based in Paris, France.

A few years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.

How It Started

Moving to France wasn’t part of the long-term plan. Like many expat relocations, it began as a work opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.

The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more tangled than they should.

The Adjustment Period

Culture shock, ambiguity, and a lot of learning by doing were part of the process. But gradually, routines formed. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt stable.

Why I Built Harxel Lisils Orno

Most information online leaned toward corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was missing was a candid, everyday family perspective.

This site aims to fill that gap — practical guidance grounded in real life in France.

What This Site Does (And Doesn't)

This site is:

  • Hands-on experience from living in France
  • Centered on family life and daily realities
  • Updated whenever a real change occurs

This site is not:

  • Not a tourism authority resource
  • Not a platform for sponsored reviews
  • Not a generic travel blog

Looking Ahead

Our time in France continues, and so does the learning process. As long as the information remains useful, I will keep documenting what we discover.

If you have questions about family life in Paris or anywhere in France, please feel free to contact me.

Best regards,

Elise
